The Origins of Morenita's Mexican Restaurant & Bakery

Morenita's story began in 1991 as the first traditional taco truck in Idaho Falls. This family-run taco truck was not only groundbreaking but quickly became a beloved destination for locals. Every day, the truck would serve fresh, mouth-watering tacos at various warehouse locations and later on the Yellowstone Highway. The popularity grew so much that, by 1995, Morenita's evolved into a full-fledged restaurant and bakery.

What truly sets Morenita’s apart is its authentic recipes, which trace back almost a century to Aguililla, Michoacan, Mexico. This commitment to traditional flavors and cooking techniques has cemented Morenita's as a go-to spot for both locals and visitors craving genuine Mexican food.

Morenita’s still carries this same dedication to serving the community today. With almost 30 years of history, the restaurant and bakery remains a favorite for locals who remember the original taco truck as well as new generations discovering the restaurant for the first time.

Great food with big portions and friendly service. It is an older place, and it shows but the food is good, so it didn't matter.

Outstanding food - fresh, tasty and authentic!! You need to try this restaurant for great food. The refried beans were smooth, the tortillas were fresh and soft and the sauces - pico de gallo / salsa verde - were magic. The staff were friendly and checked we were enjoying our meal. And don't forget to get flan and Tres leche for dessert!!

Bit of a hole in the wall kind of place, but totally delicious, authentic Mexican food. If you're looking for a legitimate taco in town, this is the place. I've been several times now, and all of the different meats and meals I tried have been delicious. The employee who takes your order is always so friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced as well, it's a great place to have a yummy, casual meal or grab take out from.

The food was delicious. The tortillas were handmade. The costumers service skills were great ! The lady in the front, Jessica, was so kind and helpful when taking my order. The busser lady was very kind and helpful with picking up our plates and trash as soon as we were done. I came in with my family of almost 30 people and they fed us all in a matter of minutes. I would definitely come back here if im ever in Idaho again! I loved it all down to the ambiance of the place to the food on my plate.

We actually had heard about another spot in town but it ended up being closed, but by then our hearts were set on Mexican food. The service was really great and everything was clean and fresh. The woman at the counter where you order was happy to help make our decisions. We had a burrito, enchiladas, and an assortment of tacos, chips and dip (beans with salsa and queso fresco) and queso dip. Beans one was great. The queso one we did not care for. Tasted canned or something commercial. Hubs verde burrito was great. Daughter really enjoyed her verde enchiladas. And I had a coupe of their different types of tacos. Homemade tortillas made it all stand out as well as the stocked mini fridge with an assortment of salsas. Green was our fave. Definitely worth stopping.
